Trans-ASEAN Gas Pipeline

ASEAN Energy Cooperation is a partnership that is based on the promotion of stability and sustainability in the region, comprehensive health issue safety and environment Which currently operates under the ASEAN Plan of Action on Energy Cooperation 2553-2558 year.One of the major projects under such cooperation is the development of the natural gas pipeline project linking ASEAN or "Trans-ASEAN Gas Pipeline". ASEAN has assigned the ASEAN Council on Petroleum is the main mechanism for implementing the project.

The ASEAN Council on Petroleum has established a task force on ASEAN Gas Pipeline Project (Task Force on ASEAN Gas Pipeline)and the master plan project to link ASEAN Gas Pipeline. It is incorporated in the master plan for development and the use of natural gas in the region in 1996, in accordance with the current energy situation in the region and beyond. At the meeting of the 20th ASEAN Ministers on Energy in Bali, Indonesia on July 5, 2002, ASEAN has signed a memorandum of understanding natural gas pipeline project linking ASEAN. Which aims to provide a broad framework for ASEAN to cooperate in order to accomplish the project.

Currently, ASEAN is linked pipeline natural bilateral total distance of 2,319 km, 8 projects. Moreover, there are plans to construct an additional 8 projects in the future. A Indonesia's Natuna gas fields in the East will be a major gas pipeline to support the region. Also Thailand has collaborated on a project to link all five ASEAN Gas Pipeline project was completed 3 projects, as following

1. Yadana in Myanmar - Ratchaburi in Thailand, 

distance 470 kilometers.

2. Yetagun in Myanmar - Ratchaburi in Thailand, 

distance 340 kilometers.

3. Malaysia - Thailand (JDA), distance 270 kilometers.
